Abstract

The goal is to comprehensively analyze the socio-communication strategies of Ukrainian-language YouTube channels on historical topics.

Descriptive-analytical, comparative, and contextual methods, as well as the method of content analysis, were used.

The novelty of the study. The formal and content features of historical educational YouTube projects, which are successful in mass communication, are described. Using the example of the five most popular historical resources, the features of the life cycle of each of them are determined, the social tasks declared by the authors, the content of the video, linguistic and stylistic means of expressing the author’s intention, and textual methods of communication with the audience are analyzed.

The main results. Historians, journalists, and writers undertake to popularize history, adjusting communication styles to the viewers’ tastes and actively using various means of attracting attention to historical issues. The topic of resources is conventionally represented by three spatial blocks — Ukraine, the world, and Russia, with a clear emphasis on the modern Russo-Ukrainian war, which testifies to the social role of educational media as not just an educator but also an information weapon. Looking forward, it is worth exploring the recipient side of such social interaction and the use of modern socio-communication tools in informal education.
