Abstract

The purpose of the article is to reveal the scientific features of contemporary geohistory.

The epistemological specifics of the relevant developments are revealed. Theoretical and methodological features of the concept of economic export cycles of the country’s development, geographical period, chorems and chorotypes are shown. Their introduction to domestic studies of spatial-temporal patterns of social development, especially from the viewpoint of history and geography, will help to understand better not only the development of Ukraine’s past but also the current relevant processes.

The methodological basis of the material. The clear interdisciplinarity of research from the perspective of systems geohistory contributes to the creation of a holistic picture of the impact of past processes on the present and allows us to predict future social development. An important place in these studies is the concept of the integrity of space and time in the spirit of neo-Kantianism, perception of time not from the perspective of a set of events fixism but as a process with a certain direction of development, consisting of different types of time, biological rhythms, natural cycles. At the same time, relevant scientific developments in geopolitics and geography are widely used, which allow a new interpretation of the formation and development of the modern global world system. The unification of the polycentric world with a dynamic periphery into a single whole is possible due to constant strong external pressure (Reynaud’s principle), while the absence of external threats contributes to polycentric development (Reynaud’s anti-principle). An important place is the use of the chorem approach (especially use of paleochorems) to determine long-term vectors and areas of development of human civilization in time and space at different levels of organization of geographical space.

The conclusions. A certain spatial system recreates itself during a certain geographical period, so the awareness of such periodization is important for establishing the patterns of internal development of the societies.
