The purpose is to study the specifics of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations in 1992—2022 based on the Azerbaijani scientific and source base and materials of the Azerbaijan State News Agency AzərTac.
Methodological approaches are based on the use of interdisciplinary research tools at the intersection of history and policy.
The scientific novelty. For the first time, important historical events that influenced the formation of bilateral foreign policy relations between Azerbaijan and Ukraine in 1992—2022 were studied, taking into account the contractual legal framework, reports, interviews, and official meetings of the presidents of the countries, and also the position of Azerbaijani researchers regarding the problem of the annexation of Crimea was highlighted.
Conclusions. The main stages of the formation of Azerbaijani-Ukrainian relations in the specified period were determined, and it was proved that during this period, they acquired strategic importance. The main problems in regional cooperation in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian war were also revealed. The practice of bilateral trade agreements and cooperation in the energy sector, as well as the activities of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine in establishing interstate relations, were analyzed.
