The article analyzes the development and transformation of the structures of moral and psychological support of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation at the stage of their direct preparation for a full-scale armed invasion on 24.02.2022, their activities in 2013–2022.
The research methodology is based on the fundamental principles of objectivity and historicism, which involve the study of individual phenomena and processes in their development and close connection with the system of relevant socio-political relations.
Scientific novelty. For the first time in historiography, a study of complex processes of reforming the educational structures of the modern Russian army was conducted, as well as an assessment of the effectiveness of their activities during the period of direct preparation of the Russian military leadership to open an open war with Ukraine. The main conclusions state that the permanent nature of the reforms mostly led to an imbalance in the system of military education and the creation of concepts that were based mainly on the work of Soviet political bodies. At the same time, the introduction of the latest elements of moral and psychological support in the experience of the world’s leading states was deliberately ignored. The processes of education in the RF Armed Forces at this time were led mainly by representatives of the command level with a unique vision of the tasks of moral and psychological support. This guaranteed the conservation and stagnation of the educational process on the basis of a strange mixture of the Soviet mythological concept of the World War II with the most primitive fundamentalist interpretation of the canons of Orthodoxy. Approbation in the process of educating the personnel of the RF Armed Forces of the ideology of racism allowed to form a sufficiently large layer of adherents of the new ideology. But the failure of the first stage of the so-called “special operation” allows us to draw preliminary conclusions about the serious miscalculations of the organization of the military administration of the Russian army and other law enforcement agencies to morally and psychologically ensure the readiness of personnel to perform combat missions.
