In the letter-post by O.Yefimenko outlines the cardinal transformations of the Ukrainian cultural space caused by the revolutionary metamorphoses of 1917–1918. Author lightens up the phenomenon of the cultural-educational movement related with the mass spread of self-education courses of Ukrainian studies. Also, author based the thesis that Ukrainian studies are an original, undifferentiated and disciplined unformed form of the socio-humanitarian knowledge about Ukraine, in which the history of Ukraine occupies a respectable place. In the article noted that the Ukrainian state of 1917–1918 appeared as a result of public willing expression, but not as an evolutionary and organic progression product in the context of positivist representations. Moreover, the article researches the specific difficulties in the history of Ukraine representation the state-political and territorial-spatial perspectives. In particular, in the field of pedagogical and cultural-educational practices. Author paid the attention that the history of Ukraine is not a monotonous spatial area, but is distinguished by cultural and territorial variety, because the historical process was unfolded in the field of three states ("political organisms") influence – Moscow Rus’, Poland and the Tatar Khanate.
