Political and confessional orientations of Orthodox chancellors of the turn of the 15th–16th centuries

Abstract

The paper deals with a rather poorly studied aspect of the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania’s state chancellery. The stress is laid on the role played by its personnel in the development of culture of the late 15 – early 16th century. Author identifies some scribes as writers or contributors to the literary process of the age. She also analyzes their outlook as revealed by their works and cultural endeavors.
