O.M.Asatkin – a fictional "forger" of the 1937 census

The main phases of party and administrative activity of a head of Statistical Ukrainian Office А.Asatkin are highlighted in the article. His nomenclature and personal involvement in the organization of 1937 census in the Ukrainian SSR are studied. On the basis of archival materials of his criminal case accusations of falsification of the census are denied. Demographic statistics that certifies the total losses during the Holodomor of 1932–1933 in Ukraine were more than 7 million people is revealed.
