Abstract

The purpose of the article is to determine the criteria by which the production of “Lviv manufactory” should be selected and to analyze several unstudied artifacts respectively. Having studied the maces and pernachs from the collection of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine and Lviv Historical Museum, the author identified them as products of the “Lviv manufactory” of the end 17—18th centuries. Taking into account the results of historical research, the author provides source specifics to the concept of “Lviv manufactory” and demonstrates the peculiarities of craft techniques as well as the decorative style of Armenian goldsmiths of the 17—18th centuries.

The methodology. The interdisciplinary nature of the problem required recourse to the methodological tools of art history, local history and regional studies, history of everyday life, and cultural studies.

Main scientific results and practical significance. The article is an original work in which the author, on the basis of the source and historiographical potential, reveals the concept of “Lviv manufactory” and provides grounds for reasonable identification of its products, as well as expands information on previously introduced into scientific circulation maces from Ukrainian museums.
