Abstract

The goal of the publication is to reveal testimonies of Chernihiv resident. On February 24th, 2022, for the sake of his life, he took a decision to go to the village where he was born. He had a hope to avoid meeting “the liberators” because of the absence of important infrastructure objects in a rural area. Instead, he found himself under occupation (March 5—30, 2022).

To achieve the set goals, the method of interviewing is according to a specially elaborated questionnaire.

The scientific novelty is to introduce to the scientifi c field new oral history sources about the strategies of survival of the civil population that found themselves amid combat actions and occupation of a settlement Sloboda of Chernihiv district, Chernihiv region.

Conclusions. Collected testimonies comprise an important segment of a source base of research on the Russo-Ukrainian war, practices of everyday life, and the strategies of survival of Ukrainians in conditions of occupation.
