Abstract. The purpose of the research is to analyze the new perception of the provisions of the Union of Lublin, which was widespread in the Polish national movement in mid 19 century on Southern Ukraine (based on the State Archives of Odesa region documents). The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism, systematic, scientific. The following general-historical methods have been used: historiographical analysis, terminological analysis, comparative, typological. The author adheres to the civilizational approach and principles of intellectual history. The scientific novelty of the basis of a wide range of published sources and new unpublished documents of the State Archives of Odesa region. Conclusions. The documents from the State Archives of Odesa region shows that the Southern Ukrainian territories became an important springboard for the dissemination of new ideas, for the concentration of the Polish movement figures and for the concentration of relevant literature and weapon. It was discovered that the new perception of the Union of Lublin includes idea of the Ukrainian lands as a separate constituent of the new proposed state on an equal footing with Poland and Lithuania. The idea was manifested not only in speakings or correspondence, appeals to the events of the history of Ukraine, and its prominent figures, but even in visual materials – maps, heraldry, seals. Taking into account the strategic importance of Odesa, all these materials represented a significant problem for Russian empire local officials, who recorded the mentioned ideas in official reports and orders. Probably the new perception of the Union of Lublin assumed the inclusion of the Southern Ukraine with Odesa to the new state.
