TUMORS OF HEMATOPOIETIC AND LYMPHOID TISSUES (DRAFT OF 11-th REVISION OF THE INTERNATIONAL CLASSIFICATION OF DISEASES, ICD-11)

Summary. The major principles and categorization criteria of the tumors of hematopoietic and lymphoid tissues in the draft of the revised International Classification of Diseases, ICD-11 have been reviewed. The
ICD-11 draft is compared with 2016 revision of the
WHO classification of lymphoid neoplasms, myeloid
neoplasms and acute leukemia. In ICD-11 draft, myelodisplastic syndromes and myeloproliferative diseases
comprising in total up to 30% of all hemoblastoses are
definitely included into malignant neoplasms. Taking
into account the recent progress in studying etiology,
pathogenesis and clinics of the diseases, the improved
classification will constitute a ground for precise representation of the structure of morbidity and mortality contributing to further in-depth analytical epidemiological studies.
