Abstract

Aim: analysis of the problem of providing oncological assistance to the Ukrainian population. Results: the structure and main development strategies of the oncology service of Ukraine during three periods (1990s, 2010s, and 2020s) were characterized. The main reasons for insufficient effectiveness of oncology care were highlighted. The fight against malignant neoplasms is a nationwide problem, the solution of which requires improvement of prevention mechanisms, screening, early detection of tumors, introduction of new treatment technologies, provision of physical and psychological support to patients, improvement of their quality of life. The urgent need to adapt the work of the oncology service in Ukraine to the existing standards of most EU developed countries, has been demonstrated. This will allow optimal implementation of the medical industry reformation in the interests of society with the possibility of equal access to high-quality and affordable medical care.
