The aim of the study is to analyze the occupation policy of the Russian government in the Governor-General of Halychyna on the example of Ternopil Province during August – December 1914.
One of the leading methods used by the authors was the method of local history, focused on the study of a territory from the standpoint of formation and formation of the policy of the occupation administration, adaptation and imposition on the “newly acceded” territories of the administrative-territorial structure of the Russian Empire.
Scientific novelty. The process of formation and formation of the occupation policy of the Russian government in the Ternopil Province in the outlined period is revealed.
Conclusions. The violent adaptation of local areas to the Russian administrative-territorial system has been studied; highlights the difficult situation of the population of Ternopil Province in the conditions of the Russian occupation authorities, given the imperial autocratic policy, the capture of Halychyna and Bukovyna; it was found that one of the important functions of administrative bodies was to fill the budget with funds by imposing fines for non-compliance with orders, confiscation of movable and immovable property, eviction, etc.; it is proved that the occupation policy of the Russian government in Ternopil Province during 1914 led to the implementation of imperial autocratic policy in the elimination of self-government, imposition of general imperial stereotypes, the destruction of original socio-political, socio-economic and cultural-educational development of the region.
