Abstract

The report of Academician, President of the National Academy of Ukraine Anatoly Zahorodny for 2023, highlighting the Academy’s activities in time of the Russian aggression, underlines the resilience of domestic researchers who continue doing research amidst heavy losses and destructions. The report contains details of core scientific achievements, particularly ones in mathematics, physics, astronomy, biochemistry and defense technologies aiming to enhance the security of Ukraine. It outlines the challenges faced by Academy, such as poor financing, losses of personnel and damage of research infrastructures, and plans on optimization of the Academy’s structure. Support to young researchers and innovation technology development for economic and defense purposes is emphasized.
