“Science and Science of Science” (“Nauka ta naukoznavstvo”) is an international scientific journal, a specialized regular edition of open access. Its main goal is systematic monitoring of practices, trends and prospects of research systems in Ukraine and beyond. The journal’s audience covers researchers, lecturers, post-graduates and university students, public administration employees, business people, and a wider circle of readers. The journal is distributed inside Ukraine and beyond.

The journal is founded in 1993 by the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (now the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ) and Dobrov Center for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies of the NAS of Ukraine (now the State Institution “Dobrov Institute for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies of the NAS of Ukraine” (Dobrov STEPS Institute of the NAS of Ukraine)). The journal continues traditions of the scientific collection “Science of Science and Informatics” (ISSN 0374-3896) launched in 1969 by the initiative of Gennady Dobrov, the founder of science of science in Ukraine and the first director of the institute bearing his name since 1991.
Journal financing: public, funds of the co-founders. The journal is not involved in advertising.
The journal is included in the Nomenclature of Specialized Editions of Ukraine (Category “B”), entitled to publish results of research theses for scientific degrees in economics (specialty “051”, approved by Order of the Ministry of Education and Science from 02.07.2020 No. 886), history (specialty “032”, approved by Order of the Ministry of Education and Science from 24.09.2020 No. 1188).

Editorial policy. The international editorial board and the editorial office of “Science and Science of Science” journal are guided by the open access policy aimed at free dissemination of scientific knowledge; by the international ethical rules and standards with reliance on the practices of authoritative international publishers. The underlying principles of the journal’s policy are objectivity and impartiality in selecting articles for printing; compulsory external reviews of the articles; collective nature of decision-making on publication of manuscripts; active communications with the authors; strict observance of copyright and related rights. The central criterion of selecting materials for publication is novelty and topicality of ideas, reliability in scientific and factual terms.
Inclusion in databases: An online copy of the journal is provided to the repository of the V.I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (“Scientific periodicals of Ukraine”). The journal is indexed in the open Ukrainian Science Citation Indeх OUCI. The journal is included in the information and analytical system “Bibliometrics of Ukrainian Science” and databases “Ukrainika Naukova”, Google Academy, ERIH PLUS, Crossref.
