Abstract

The article gives details on the history of creation and mission of the International Committee for the History of Technology (ICOHTEC). The congress of 2018 was attended by 226 persons from countries of Europe, Asia, America, including three researchers from Ukraine. This scientific forum comprised 56 sections with a broad thematic coverage: history of railways and their significance for the modern society, the role of electricity in the cultural and political development of countries, evolution of the military hardware and social dimensions of defense technologies, positive and negative effects of power industry for the environment and landscape, the significance of electronics, computer devices and information technologies, the influence of radio on global communications, climate change, environmental pollution caused by plastics, use of technologies in agriculture, biology, medical service and psychology, light and food industry, industrial design, technical education, and other dimensions of technological development. The Second school for young researchers on science and technology history was arranged as part of the symposium on July, 16–17, 2028.
