Use of artificial intelligence (AI) systems

“Science and Science of Science” journal supports the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the research activities, and permits only ancillary employment of AI tools. The purpose of this policy is to ensure honesty, transparence, and reliability of scientific information displayed in the journal.

Using AI by the authors:

The authors are allowed to use AI only as an ancillary tool: linguistic editing, technical formatting, translating or analysis of linguistic constructs, given the full disclosure of the used services and ways of their use in the article.

AI cannot be indicated as a coauthor. The authorship belongs only to the authors who have made a substantial research contribution.

AI cannot be indicated as a source.

When AI systems are used in preparing the manuscript, this shall be indicated in a note or acknowledgement at the end of the article.

The authors shall bear the full responsibility for the content and reliability of materials generated using AI.

Using AI is prohibited for the following purposes: generating or modifying data and results of research; interpreting and generating research conclusions; generating false references or citations, etc. 

AI must be used transparently, ethically, and under the human control.

A violation of this policy may be a reason for article revocation or retraction of an already published article. 

Reviewers and editors are not allowed to transfer texts of manuscripts to AI systems, to preserve the confidentiality and copyright of the authors.

This policy is subject to updating in keeping with the development of AI technologies and amendments in international publishing standards.
