A next symposium, held on March 14—15 in Kyiv, continued the tradition of Kyiv international symposiums on science of science and science history, and annual “Dobrov readings”. The invited participants of this international event were scientists, businessmen, lecturers from higher educational institutions, representatives of public administration offices charged with research and innovation management. The symposium objective is to discuss the legislative framework for research, evolution of the research system and its performance evaluation, new methods for studies of human resources in R&D; ways to improve research and innovation policies and implement advanced forms of international cooperation; and the related issues of history, methodology and sociology of science from the perspective of fostering a positive image of science. The symposium was arranged as two plenary sessions, and two thematic sections: “Science of science and innovatics”, and “History, methodology, and sociology of science”. The article contains an extended review of symposium presentations. Attached to it are symposium participants’ recommendations on intensification of integration processes between research system, power authorities, and society.
