The Information Trap: A Threat to the Nervous and Mental Evolution of a Human
Keywords:

The article is devoted to the important issues of the mass media role in fostering individual and public consciousness. The philosophic conceptualization of the global information crisis over the latest two decades have become subject to the increasing scopes of research projects and publicist speeches. The article elaborates on information traps resulting from the information tide and creating “virtual reality” having little in common with the natural reality, actual environments and events taking place across the world, when images and words are sold like conventional commodities. It is shown that the information tide gives rise to the social disorientation and information chaos caused by the penetration of inadequate information, or, better to say, disinformation, via mass media. The causes of lack of an adequate social response on this threat are examined. It is concluded that without the awareness of our own nature and understanding of the ways of our life activity in the information milieu, we can get only the illusion of freedom.
