Abstract

The second congress of scientists of the Republic of Belarus was held on December 12–13, 2017, in the city of Minsk. Guests and participants of the congress could attend the exhibition “Science and innovation. Intellectual Belarus”, comprising eight clusters associated with priority areas of the national development. Before the opening of the plenary meeting, the congress participants were engaged in nine sections devoted to the following core issues: “Physics and informatics in technologies of the future”, “Technical sciences – Industry 4.0”, “Advanced chemistry and rational nature use”, “Advanced biotechnology”, “Medical and pharmaceutical sciences”, “Social contributions of domestic humanities”, “Innovation-driven agro-industrial complex”, “Youth and new horizons of science”, “International scientific interactions nowadays”. The same day saw the session of the Council of the International Association of Academies of Sciences (IAAS), presided by V.G. Gusakov, chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) of Belarus, president of IAAS, who delivered a report “IAAS missions in short-term and long-term perspective”. After that, the floor was taken by P.A. Vytiaz, head of the administrative department of the NAS of Belarus, who delivered a report “The amendments to “The Statute of the International Association of Academies of Sciences”.
