80th Anniversary of Professor V.I. Onoprienko

Abstract

Valentyn Omoprienko is a renown Ukrainian scientist and lecturer, a professor, a doctor of philosophy, an outstanding specialist in philosophy, sociology, methodology and history of science. He graduated the Moscow Lomonosov State University in 1962. He has been in staff of Dobrov Institute for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies of the NAS of Ukraine since 1986. V. Onoprienko is the author of more than 450 works, including nearly 60 monographs. He is an acknowledged leader in scientific biographies, the author of more than 20 biographic books. V. Onoprienko made a significant contribution in science of science and sociology of science by substantiating the pattern of transformations in science of science through the absorption of fundamental ideas and concepts of the modern sociology of science, thus allowing science of science to confirm its autonomous status. V. Onoprienko was actively engaged in lecturing throughout his life, he is a member of the Board of the State Foundation for Basic Research of Ukraine. The article contains a review of the abovementioned aspects of V. Onoprienko’s activities and a list of his main scientific publications.
