International Youth Symposium on Science and Technology History “Priorities of the Ukrainian Science”

Abstract

The 25th All-Ukrainian conference of young historians of science, technology and education, and specialists “The Social Significance of intellectual activities” held as part of the International youth symposium on science and technology history “Priorities of the Ukrainian science system” was hale on June, 19, 2020. The following issues were discussed: science and technology history of Ukraine as a socio-cultural phenomenon; the ideological significance of science and technology history; main results of Ukrainian researchers in natural, engineering, and social sciences; scientific and science & technology schools in Ukraine and beyond; advanced experiences of rationalizers and inventors in Ukraine; the science-based approach to preservation of the historical legacy, and popularization of science. The topics of presentations were grouped by the sections: “A history of formation of physics, mathematics, and astronomy in Ukraine and beyond”, “Science history studies of the development of medical & biological, agricultural sciences, and Earth sciences”, “Phases in the evolution of socio-humanitarian knowledge: historical, philosophical, economic, and pedagogical sciences.” Details on conference organizers and geographic origins of conference participants are given (80 participants from 12 cities of Ukraine, Romania, and France, who delivered 61 presentations). A symposium’s tradition has been specialized excursions for the participants. This year saw a virtual excursion to the Museum of the History of Kyiv Metro in the form of video film.
