Abstract

This symposium is a follow up of the tradition of regularly held international forums on a broad range of important problems faced by the modern R&D system, sponsored by UNESCO and the International Association of Academies of Sciences and initiated by Borys Paton as early as in 2001. Invited participants of these symposiums held biennially were researchers and research administrators from countries of Europe, Asia, and America. The organizational and methodological support of these events is assigned to Dobrov Institute for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies of the NAS of Ukraine. This year Symposium held in commemoration of Borys Paton, a great scientist, a distinguished organizer of science system was organized online on account of covid-19 pandemic. This year symposium had one distinguishing feature: nearly all the speakers, irrespective of the presentation theme, supplemented their research theses by recollections about personal communication with Borys Paton. The article contains a review of presentations by symposium participants.
