Abstract

This article analyzes in detail the two-volume publication by geologists and science historians V.I. Pavlyshyn, O.I. Matkovskyi and S.O. Dovgyi. The volume is dedicated to the history of mineralogy in Ukraine. Brief information about the authors and a description of the books “History of mineralogy in Ukraine. From ancient times to the 90s of the 20th century” (Kyiv, 2019. 462 p.) and “History of mineralogy in Ukraine. From the 90s of the XX century to this day” (Kyiv, 2022. 608 p.) are provided as a review. The extraordinary thoroughness and factual saturation of the publication, as well as the extensive illustrative series, are noted. It is shown that thanks to these features, the publication can be of particular interest to a wide audience and can be used during the creation of museum exhibitions, training courses on the history of geology, mineralogy and crystallography. Moreover, it can become a source of additional material for various local lore explorations. The volume is recommended to be accessed in the web in order to provide the high-quality data to widest amount of users.
