The article sets out three activity areas for the European Federation of National Engineering Associations (FEANI). The first area is the Program document of FEANI pertaining to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The Program’s goal is to incite changes in the public opinion and call to action. It specifies potential actions of engineering associations in this domain, especially bearing in mind the poor public awareness and understanding of the professional engineers’ role and inadequate representation of engineers in political bodies. The second area is new certificate EUR ING 2.0. This is a certificate issued by FEANI since late 1980s as a guarantee of the international competence of professional engineers. In view of distinctions between national professional systems, the certificate is meant to simplify the movement of practical engineers within and beyond the boundaries of the geographic zone of the countries with FEANI membership. The current version rethinks modern qualification criteria, with placing emphasis on lifelong learning and non-stop professional development, so as the competencies could be better aligned with present-day realities. The FEANI certificate will be issued on grounds of credible qualification evidence (formal education and training), professional experience and permanent professional development. The third area is the Project “Engineers for Europe” (E4E). This project’s purpose is a better encouragement of innovations and resilience of engineers in EU countries through acquiring new competencies, including skills, knowledge and leadership, with emphasis on digital technologies, environment, resilience and entrepreneurship focused on new demands of the labor market.
