Abstract

In outlining the features of country’s competitiveness, the author accounts for several important factors: political stability, domestic economic capacity, external economic relations, government regulation, monetary system, infrastructure, management system, R&D, labor resources. Research purposes of the author include outlining political implications and demonstrating new prospects of Ukraine’s competitiveness resulting from its membership in the World Trade Organization, and analysis of institutional factors promoting competitiveness. The competitiveness of Ukraine is analyzed by key methods for assessing social, political, and economic processes in a country, used in EU. The analysis covers the conceptual framework for building up the competitiveness in Ukraine in the context of reforms at national and regional level. The main areas of competitiveness enhancement in Ukraine are highlighted. The special effect of legal acts setting up the functions and authorities of power bodies in competitiveness management, their causal links and tools promoting the competitiveness at regional and country level are shown. A set of administrative, political, organizational, economic, and institutional means for ensuring the competitiveness in Ukraine is proposed.
