Abstract

This monograph by L. Ryzhko, T. Bessalova, and O. Zhyvaha is devoted to vital issues of creating new types of research, e.g., mission-oriented ones aimed at harmonizing the social and individual life of a human, developing industrial and information technologies, etc. The authors present a holistic, systemic, and argumentative research into new trends in R&D and higher education, aimed at developing practically oriented research. They demonstrate that research performed by the institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine since the middle of the past century belongs to this category. The authors have analyzed principal features of this research performed not only on an interdisciplinary basis, but also on a transdisciplinary one; these projects can be supervised by invited representatives of industry, higher education institutions, or power offices. This book can be interesting for specialists in the history, philosophy, and sociology of science, as well as for supervisory staff of universities; it can help postgraduate students and young researchers to better navigate the opportunities of a research career.
