In 1993, by the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (now the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) and G.M. Dobrov Center for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies (now the State Institution “G.M. Dobrov Institute for Scientific and Technological Potential and Science History Studies” of the NAS of Ukraine (G.M. Dobrov STEPS Center of the NAS of Ukraine).
The journal continues the traditions of the collection “Science of Science and Informatics” (ISSN 0374-3896) that started to be issued in 1969 by the initiative of Gennadiy Mikhaylovich Dobrov, the founder of science studies in Ukraine and the first director of the STEPS Center of the NAS of Ukraine, named in his honor since 1991.
The journal’s main objective: regular studies of experiences, tendencies and prospects of R&D development in Ukraine and beyond. A wide range of issues discussed on the journal’s pages covers: science & technology and innovation policy, performance and tendencies of science and technology potential, R&D infrastructure, problems of international science and technology cooperation, scientometrics, webometrics, history of science and academic schools, etc. The journal “Science and Science of Science” provides a forum for discussing problems of reforms, development and operation of the R&D system in Ukraine.
