The reviewed monograph summarizes the international and national experience accumulated in the field of green infrastructure management, reveals the authors’ vision of sustainable development and the ecosystem approach implementation as current issues in urban economy. It is determined and substantiated that green infrastructure facilities should be approached as natural assets of urban economy with an outline of all the specifics and implications that should be directly reflected in the general system of its management. It is proven that modern accents in urban facilities management are concentrated on solving the problems of urban greening for aesthetics and meeting recreational needs, while, in the authors’ opinion, the significance of the natural resource component is much broader, since green spaces perform water protection related, protective, sanitary and hygienic, wellness and other ecosystem functions.
Based on the fact that the current ecological situation is a limiting factor for the development of both individual territories and society as a whole, the monograph substantiates the feasibility and necessity of the territorial management institutions reforming, introducing environmental imperatives into its structure, reorienting thinking, as well as decision-making system management in accordance with the principles of eco-efficiency and eco-justice.
