Abstract

On June 6, the famous in Ukraine and abroad economist, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine, Doctor of Economics, Professor, Academician of the NAS of Ukraine Bohdan M. Danylyshyn, celebrates his glorious anniversary.

Mr. Danylyshyn was born on June 6, 1965 in the village of Tserkivna, Ivano-Frankivsk region. In 1987, he graduated from the Ternopil State Pedagogical Institute. Since 1988, he had worked at the Council for the Study of the Productive Forces of Ukraine of the NAS of Ukraine, where he made his way from a PhD student to department head, deputy chairman and chairman of the Council (2006–2010). During 2007–2010 he was the Minister of Economy of Ukraine, in 2016–2022 he held the position of Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine Council, having been its member during 2016–2023. Since 2024 he has headed the Council of the Land Bank.

In parallel, Mr. Danylyshyn is engaged in scientific and teaching activity. For instance, since 2003 he has been a member of the Bureau of the Department of Economics of the NAS of Ukraine, since 2014 – head of the Department of Regional Studies and Tourism at the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. B.M. Danylyshyn is a full member of the Taras Shevchenko Scientific Society (France). For a long period, he has been a member of the editorial board of the journal "Economy of Ukraine".

An important area of his activity is the comprehensive ecological-economic, socio-economic and scientific-technical forecasting of the development of the national economy, scientific substantiation of mechanisms for the formation of an integrated regional economic policy of the state, including the leveling of disparities in the socio-economic development of regions, the development of depressed areas, small monofunctional cities, etc. B.M. Danylyshyn achieved significant results in studying ways to ensure sustainable ecological-economic development and increasing the role of regions in the structure of the state's economic complex.

Under his scientific supervision, the conceptual principles of sustainable development of Ukraine, the Countrywide Program for the Development of Small Cities of Ukraine were developed. Bohdan Danylyshyn took a direct part in drafting the concept and strategy of state regional policy, the general planning scheme for the territory of Ukraine, a number of regulatory and legislative acts on the development of regions and territorial communities, local self-government, environmental policy and natural and technogenic safety.
