The impact of digital transformation on the adaptation of relocated businesses during the full-scale war in Ukraine is studied. The results of survey of relocated enterprises’ representatives conducted as part of the young scientists’ research project “Relocated Business in the Revitalization of Regional Ecosystems of Ukraine” (2023–2025) are analyzed. The key challenges facing businesses after relocation are identified. In particular, according to the survey results, the greatest difficulties, and therefore the most common problem, for relocated businesses are related to access to finance. Legislative barriers and the lack of a qualified workforce also had a considerable impact. Significant difficulties arise due to the loss of suppliers, which affects the stability of business operations. Respondents noted problems with access to quality infrastructure, resources, and cooperation with local governments. Some enterprises face problems in selling their goods or services, as well as challenges associated with insufficient infrastructure and high bureaucratization of processes.
The digitalization level of relocated enterprises and the role of modern digital technologies for their further activities are analyzed. It is found that enterprises actively use customer communication tools (websites, social networks, chatbots). However, digital solutions for business process management and e-commerce are being implemented too slowly and on an insufficient scale. The authors give an example of the activities of Diia.Business platform, which can be used as tools to support relocated businesses at the state level, which helps reduce the bureaucratic burden and improve access to finance.
Recommendations are provided to boost the digital transformation of relocated business. It is proposed to intensify the implementation of state digitalization programs, attracting grant funding, conducting training sessions for entrepreneurs, and the popularization of e-governance. Digital transformation can contribute not only to adaptation to relocation challenges, but also to increasing business resilience in times of crisis, which ensures increased competitiveness, process efficiency, and integration into global digital ecosystems.
