VIRTUAL CURRENCY: GLOBAL CHALLENGES AND DEVELOPMENT PERSPECTIVES

The essences of virtual currency schemes and participants of the “ecosystem” of virtual currency schemes are investigated. Based on the international regulatory acts, the differences and similarities between virtual currency, digital currency, and electronic money are analyzed. The SWOT-analysis of virtual currency schemes is implemented. The liberal, conservative, and repressive models and the model of expectations are distinguished in the regulation of virtual currency schemes. The tools of virtual currency regulation schemes in various countries are studied.
