The article analyzes the current state of amber deposits in Ukraine and considers the main problems that arise in connection with uncontrolled extraction of amber. This leads to serious negative consequences for the nature of Polesia, and the loss of industrial significance of these deposits. Based on the analysis of geological and historical information, it is concluded that there is a need for a state settlement of the situation with the illegal extraction of amber in Ukraine and increasing responsibility for violation of the established norms and causing of environmental damage. The necessity of enhancing attention to measures popularizing the amber theme and improving the environmental culture of the population is also noted.
