Creators of the theory of abiogenic genesis of oil and gas: the teacher and the student

Abstract

The article is devoted to the life and work of the Academician of the AS of UkrSSR, Vladimir Borisovich Porfiryev (1899–1982), a well-known scientist-geologist, author of the hypothesis of the abiogenic origin of hydrocarbons at great depths, as well as the theory of the origin of ozokerite and generalized theory of formation of different types of coal. The work of Porfiryev was continued by his student, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Professor Vladylen Krayushkin.
