Abstract

The report substantiates the leading role of language in the process of state formation, examines the relationship between language and the state based on the historical experience of other nations, and shows that language was and is an important component of human identity. It is noted that in Ukraine in recent decades there has been a steady trend towards an increase in the number of Ukrainian-speaking families and that with each passing day the Ukrainian language is increasingly becoming a marker of supra-ethnic national identity.
