The practical philosophy of Hryhorii Skovoroda and modernity: to the 300th anniversary of his birth

Abstract

The report states that Hryhorii Skovoroda's philosophy is a significant phenomenon of Ukrainian culture, an important factor in the formation and development of Ukrainian people’s identity, and at the same time corresponds with the leading world trends of modern practical philosophy. Today, at the current stage of technological civilization development, Skovoroda's practical philosophy of dialogue with the primacy of ethical values acquires especial relevance, because an extremely important aspect of his legacy is that he opposes the consumerism, and the path of self-discovery, according to Skovoroda, means distinguishing between real and apparent values of human life, rejection of everything superfluous and unimportant, harmonious relations with other people and nature.
