Abstract

The article is dedicated to the anniversary of the thinker, outstanding scientist, organizer of science, Volodymyr Vernadsky. More than a century and half has passed since his birth, but the analysis of the scientist's works shows the great importance of his scientific heritage for modern times. Some aspects of the difficult relationship between Vernadsky's teaching on the biosphere and noosphere and Western currents in the science of global planetary processes are considered. On the example of research on the evolution of the biosphere, the lasting scientific value of the scientist's ideas is shown.
