Abstract

The report states that the revival of the Carpathian oil and gas region due to the expansion of the range of new oil and gas deposits therein can significantly contribute to the achievement of Ukraine’s energy independence. In Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the NAS of Ukraine scientific research on the study of the deep structure of lithosphere by geological and geophysical methods is actively conducted. In particular, in order to detect oil and gas occurrence using deep seismic sounding, the deep structure of the Transcarpathian trough is studied in detail. According to preliminary data, in its depths there may be massive reservoirs of hydrocarbons at the depths of 5-17 km.
