Abstract

The report states that at the beginning of the 21st century, Europe and the world in general are experiencing significant political, economic, environmental, social and spiritual changes. In recent decades, humanity faced a number of unprecedented global challenges related, in particular, to the problems of survival, systemic transformation, modernization and civilizational development. Therefore, today there’s a societal demand for memory studies, which cover the ever-growing spectrum of topics concerning the historical memory of the past, establishing one of the key concepts of "new historicism", which corresponds with the formation of new cultural history that has become a response to various challenges of postmodernism.
