The Red Data Book of Ukraine: current state and directions of development

The Red Data Book is the main tool for nature conservation and protection of rare and endangered species of plants and animals, which has the legislative base strong enough for execution of its tasks. This paper indicates the main problems of nature conservation in Ukraine and considers ways of increasing effectiveness in saving species protected in the Red Data Book.
