January 29 marks the 80^th anniversary of a prominent scientist in the field of mechanics of deformable bodies and solid state mechanics, whose name is widely known in the world, Honored Scientist and Technician of Ukraine, recipient of the State Prize of Ukraine and the USSR, V.I. Vernadsky Gold Medal of NAS of Ukraine, several memorial awards of NAS of Ukraine, numerous international awards, Director of the Timoshenko Institute of Mechanics of NAS of Ukraine, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Academician of NAS of Ukraine O.M. Guz.
