Physics and astronomy at NAS of Ukraine: between the past and the future

Abstract

The article gives a brief analysis of the activities of the institutions of the Department of Physics and Astronomy of NAS of Ukraine in the context of world trends in the development of relevant scientific fields over the past few decades. Separate thoughts concerning the isolation and development of priority areas of scientific research in the field of physics and astronomy for the short-term perspective are stated.
