Abstract

In the article, based on an archival document - a handwritten letter of the outstanding geneticist Academician S.М. Hershenzon to his colleague, a well-known theorist-evolutionist professor A.A. Lyubyshchev, a discussion of the two distinguished figures is traced. This exchange of views is a vivid illustration of the paths of evolutionary genetics and systematics over the past 50 years and makes it possible to compare contemporary projections and real-time achievements in the field of evolutionary biology.
