Abstract

On the example of the recently published book by O. Golovtsov entitled “Primus inter pares”, the author discusses the role and tasks of memoir literature in preserving the memory of the past and about people who personified this or that era. A large chapter in the O. Golovtsov's book, which consists of separate biographical essays, is devoted to the well-known unique Paton family, whose reputable representative, Boris Paton, President and peer of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, celebrates his centennial anniversary this year.
