About the state and perspectives of scientific and technical support activity for transformation of the shelter object into an ecologically safe system

Abstract

Thirty years ago, on November 30, 1986, the State Commission took over for maintenance the preserved ChNPP Unit 4. Ukraine, jointly with the international community, is undertaking measures for transformation of the Shelter into ecologically safe system. Late in 2016 the Shelter was covered with the New Safe Confinement (NSC). The report shows that creation of the NSC is just the initial phase of transformation of the Shelter Object into ecologically safe system and there is a need to conduct substantial research and take organizational and technical measures to achieve the ultimate goal - the removal of fuel materials. The article provides basic provisions of the “Program of scientific and technical support at the stages of NSC commissioning and operation” that cover all activities of the Shelter transformation.
