Abstract

The totality of the data of astrophysical observations indicate the presence of a peculiar substance in the universe that manifests itself only by its gravity. This invisible and transparent substance is called dark matter. The modern theory of evolution of the universe is consistent with the observational data only provided the dark matter consists of particles of hitherto unknown nature. Study of the properties and elucidation of the nature of dark matter is one of the most important problems of fundamental physics, astrophysics and cosmology. In this report, we describe how scientists, including those in Ukraine, explore the properties of dark matter that might shed light on the nature of this phenomenon.
