Abstract

In the article, the author makes an attempt, without using "rose-colored glasses", to frankly assess the likely causes of the situation in which the scientific and educational sphere of Ukraine has found itself in recent decades. On the example of the highest self-governing scientific organization of Ukraine — the National Academy of Sciences, the gradual change in the attitude of the top leaders of the state towards science and scientists is traced, and thoughts regarding possible measures to restore the level of scientific research are given.
