The report examines changes in the format of conducting scientific research by the Institute of Archaeology of the NAS of Ukraine, which occurred as a result of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Scientists of the institute now pay great attention to monitoring the current state of archeological monuments in the territories that have been affected by hostilities, have suffered destructions and landscape transformations as a result of enemy shelling. The importance of such research is due to the fact that the archaeological heritage of Ukraine, spanning a chronological range from almost a million years ago to modern times, is an integral part of the European and world archaeological and cultural heritage in general. The destruction of even a part of it would potentially be an irreparable loss for Ukrainian culture, since such monuments cannot be restored.
