Abstract

April 28, 2013 marks the 150th anniversary of Friedrich Eduardovich Falz-Fein — a prominent public figure, a large landowner in Taurian province and Dnieper district, successful sheep farmer and horse breeder, the founder of the environmental protection facilities and areas in the estate Askania Nova, philanthropist, remarkable and very energetic personality. Contemporaries regarded him with great respect, but subsequently entered a period of slander and oblivion. Even forty years ago, it was impossible to speak openly about Falz-Fein in a positive context. Now it is a time to gather stones, a time for repentance and revival of interest to this outstanding man. Warren child of Falz-Fein — Biosphere Reserve «Askania Nova» — today proudly bears his name.
