Abstract

The article provides an analytical overview of the main tasks to be solved by the new astroinformation technology — virtual observatories — with the accentuaning the most important components (organizatiomal, scientific, software) of the national project «Ukrainian Virtual Astronomical Observatory (UkrVO)». Among them there are the establishment of Joint Digital Archive of the observed data stored at observatories in Ukraine from 1890s (over 200,000 astronegatives), its administration, compliance with international standards for image formats, photometric and astrometric image calibration, the development of a local software for the automatic registration of moving celestial objects against a background of sky, the processing of stellar fields, the study of Solar System bodies, galactic and extragalactic objects.
